windows and doors
closure is such a nice thing to have. the past few months have taught me, though it's something we all need, but may not often receive, that it is indeed a gift. i find myself feeling that a window in my mind, one that has been letting the warm and comforting environment of a clear and open space out into the wasteful void, has finally been shut. it's been open so long now, and i've been so cold, that i haven't felt a thing in months. with this window now shut, it's starting to warm up in here, i'm starting to understand exactly what's happening, and i'm starting to allow myself to channel it... to those responsible for shutting my windows, thank you, sincerely. in shutting one window, i can open doors. everything in this world is a cycle in some form or another. they all come at you at different times, in different forms, but i believe everything comes back around, and around, and around. this is not the end, or the beginning, these are but words with meaning attached. meant to signify a point in time, which is also just a word, with meaning attached. there is no past, or future, there is only now, and in this moment, the spiritual electricity surrounding me feels very much alive... again, thank you window shutters, and door openers alike. thank you.

tracking...
started demoing a new song this morning called "flatlands call".. it will appear on the new EP that will be out early 2010, and i'm actually floored by the way it's turning out. things are looking up and sounding good.
i can't wait until some of what i've been working on is ready to be received. there's a lot of good things to come!

update
happy halloween!
over the next few weeks, we're going to be taking it easy, regrouping, and planning the recording of the next EP! soon we'll be traveling into the north GA mountains, to a log cabin nested in the woods, to record 4 or 5 new songs for a new EP, which is untitled as of now. the EP will be available digitally, but physical copies will be very limited... stay tuned for details and other updates!

post tour update
we've been home from tour for a few days, and i've been wanting to update here, but i've been pretty ill. i spent most of this past saturday in the hospital.. i had flu like symptoms for a few days prior, but i woke up saturday coughing up blood n guts. scary stuff. spent all day in the hospital getting bloodwork done, tubes down my throat, iv in my arm, the whole bit. all to find out that i have some nastu virus, which i just gotta let do it's thing til it'd gone. awesome..
anyway, i'm starting to feel better now, and i thought i'd give a little rundown of the shows on this tour...
shreveport - awesome venue, but the local canceled on us at the last minute, so there wasn't a soul in attendance. hah. it sounded great though, and was a good practice.
festival in rockdale - it had been raining for days before we got there, so the ground was nice and muddy for everyone... it was also pretty cold, which was unexpected. plenty of good times kickin' it with the cartright boys, smoke and feathers, ocha, dead meadow, and everyone else. sound was a little funny for us, and we were all feeling a little under the weather, but it was a good time!
houston - best show on this tour in my opinion! sound was good, folks were receptive and welcoming. houston's music scene seems to be on the rise.. really nice sunday afternoon vibe that day. thanks bohemeos!
lake charles - a joke. the venue wasn't prepared for us at all, and evidently didn't know we were coming, even though they booked us... also, later that night, we got a hotel in lafayette, which turned out to be a terrible idea. crackheads everywhere.. it wasn't just unsafe, we were being theatened.. so we left, and slept in the van at a loves for a few hours...
new orleans - pulled into town at 7 am, feelin' rough. spent the day bumming around, trying to get a little rest... finally got a hotel, took naps and showers, and went on to the show that night. king louie flipped out on the other band playing, so they left, weird vibes.. good show otherwise. saturn bar is a top notch establishment, go have a drink next time your in nola.
the drive home - got to see hank williams boyhood home in AL. also, montgomery flea market, the one of youtube fame. what a sad little flea market...
been recovering since we got home, but i'm feelin' better. fixing to start demoing some new material to release very soon. stay tuned!
and come to the drunken unicorn this saturday, the 24th... it's my first headlining show in ATL, and i'm playin with some top dollar bands from out west!

dog blog
so we're on tour, and we just woke up in tuscaloosa. last night was awesome. we have a good friend that lives here in town, so we drove here to hang out with her, and split up the long drive to shreveport.. we were going to publix to pick up some beer, and i ended up buying a puppy from some folks in the parking lot. our friend sara is going to take care of him until after tour. his name is hank!

one week away...
so we're leaving for tour in just a week! we're all way excited to get back out on the road, even if only for a week... we've been having some pretty steady, and pretty great, tour rehearsals these past few weeks, and we're pretty excited to show everyone what we've been up to, so try to make it out to one of these shows if you're around the areas we're playing!
expect to see some new merch at our table this time around, including "who the fuck is damon moon?" koozies! it's looking like the tour EP we had planned to have available for this tour won't be ready in time, so instead, expect some new music online by the end of the week, and a digital EP in the months to follow!

the earl was a blast!
thank you to all who came out to the earl last night. it was such a good time. we opened for sleepy sun, an amazing band from san francisco. if you don't already know who they are, do your homework, they're incredible... here's a video from last night.. a new song, "twenty echoes".. we were able to record audio from the show as well, so hopefully soon, there will be a version of this video with better audio. but for now...

new things soon...
lots of new things are on their way.. new songs, videos, big news, all sorts of things... until those things are ready to be received, you should come hang out with myself and the band this saturday @ the earl. we're playing with an amazing band from san francisco called sleepy sun.. the writing is on the wall for these guys, and you need to come to this show! i'll be playing solo for the first part of the set, and then for the 2nd half, i'll have a few folks help me out for the last few songs.. these guys are joining me on the road in october for our mini tour.. this is a pretty interesting lineup, and this will most likely be the last show in atlanta at a decent sounding place until we get home from the mini tour, so come hang out and have a drink with us! the flyer is here..

the house show wednesday night was awesome! thanks to everyone who came and hung out. made some new friends from asheville, who i'll be seein' soon, and everyone who was there was awesome. hopefully there will be more house parties like that soon.
i have a show this tuesday, the 25th, at 529 in east atl. i'll be opening for jana hunter and the crazy dreams band. if you're in the area, come hang out, as i'll be playing heaps of new material, and towards the end of my set, there MAY be some special guests..
i'm recording some new things, which i plan to post here for free in the near future.. for now, here's a free download of "silver sage of the sky" from the BURLAP EP, which is now out of print. more soon! enjoy!

house show...
so i'm playing a few songs to get things going at this house show tomorrow night. i'm going to use this as a chance to test out some new material, as i have it in bulk. hah. i'm going to try to get someone to film a little of my set, so maybe i'll have some videos to post in a few days... friends from austin are in town, and new friends from asheville. if you're in atl, stop on by. 585 wells st. it's over by turner field, and it's a warehouse kinda thing. that's all i know.

i've been working on alot of new things.. videos, songs, ideas, and all sorts of things.. i've been trying to put together the newest reincarnation of the whispering drifters, as it is, and always will be, a revolving door of members. right now, there are three people who have a hand in the newest lineup, and we'll be adding a 4th soon i think.
working on a mini tour in october also.. we were asked to play the arts outside festival, which is about an hour outside of austin, tx, so we're booking a few dates around it. lots of amazing artists are playing this festival (the lineup should be released soon) and it's going to be a great time! right now, only one show is confirmed outside of the festival, but here are the dates...
